These education packs are designed to connect the built heritage of four important historic and cultural sites within the City of Norwich with the creative process of ‘dragon making' for the Norwich Dragon Festival in January and February 2009.
It is a learning resource for Key Stage 2 pupils that will provide essential background information and ideas for creativity to help in the development of their dragon sculptures. And yet this resource has a life beyond the Norwich Dragon Festival in that the ideas, suggestions and links within it can be used for any creative art, music and literacy project that may be inspired by the built and historic environment.
Therefore, this resource can be used to develop all sorts of creative work in the classroom including art, drama, music, poetry and story writing. And these do not always have to result in a dragon! Essentially, the pack explores the ways in which a building, its history, art, architecture and the stories connected to it can be used to fire pupils' imaginations and enable creative expressions.
