Walking tours

There are a variety of routes and subjects that Norwich's Blue Badge Guides cover on their guided walking tours of the city. For details of the latest tours please call the Norwich Tourist Information Centre (TIC) on 01603 213999, email , visit the TIC at The Forum seven days a week or go to www.visitnorwich.co.uk.

HEART has also commissioned a new, free online walking route planner for Norwich, to encourage the city's residents and visitors to walk more: www.walkit.com/norwich. The site also aims to assist visitors to the city in accessing the city's heritage on foot, enabling visitors to plan walking routes to take in the city's finest heritage buildings and places of interest.

The website is free to use and helps people plan a walking route, giving directions from start to finish. It can:

  • Show the most direct route as well as a less busy and more scenic one
  • Calculate the distance of the journey
  • Work out the time it will take to walk it (at a slow, medium and fast pace)
  • Work out the number of calories burned at the different paces
  • Calculate how much carbon dioxide you've avoided producing by not going by car, taxi or bus

An electronic guide that can be viewed and listened to on your mobile phone or MP3 player is also available with a series of guided tours covering stories, information, history and legends of Norwich. To access visit www.pocketnorwich.co.uk.
