  • 16th century (pre 1540) The city house of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey, was completed on the site of Surrey House
  • 1870s The house was used as a school
  • Late 19th century Surrey House was bought by Norwich Union (Aviva)
  • 1900 Building started on the new Surrey House
  • 1904 The building opened for business, housing offices and employees of Norwich Union Life
  • 1912 Work was finally completed on Surrey House
  • 2006 Surrey House underwent a series of improvements and thorough restoration programme
